Task 2



The Honda commercial is very interesting and effective because it advertise the car in a very unique way, which is using some kind of "beat box" as the sound from the car. It gives the viewers an impression that the Honda Civic is having excellent features.It makes people who watch it have the desire to own one.

For us, the Honda commercial is deep impression into the viewers' mind because whenever we see a car advertisment or Honda car, we will remember this commercial. It is a very good idea and makes us fell the POWER OF our DREAM car. We hope that for the future advertisments of Honda will be better than this and ever be the best one!

Business Plan: STARCO


Details of The Business

STARCO is the business that we would like to start which belongs to the field of street wear fashion. Initially STARCO is registered under the Companies Act as a private limited company with 4 shareholders.

Personal Details

In the past years, the four of us have worked for few companies. For your information, Carine and Sally, two of the shareholders have worked for two different companies as executives for customer service as well as sales and marketing department respectively. For Jing Ting, another shareholder was graduated from a famous fashion designing college in Tokyo and experienced to work as a street wears designer. As for our forth shareholder, Kai Zong, was employed as a chief accountant by a company.

Personnel

As for the staff, we would like to employ about 40 to 50 employees for all departments. First of all, we need fashion designers who are creative and with a lot of experience in the field of street wear fashion. STARCO also need the leaders who are punctual and responsible. Of course, they must be good at team work and management as well as efficient on their work to lead our staff and manage STARCO very well. Besides that, in order to introduce and promote our products to public, we are looking for good persuader and communicator to work for us in sales and marketing departments. Lastly, all the employees we are looking for must me enthusiastic to their job because without the enthusiasm, they will easily find the job is boring and will lost their interest of the job.

Product / Service

The main products of STARCO are T-shirts and matching apparels such as jeans, skirts, pants, shorts, etc. Besides of these, STARCO also produce accessories such as necklaces, bags, wallets, tumblers and so on. For special events as well as our promotions, we would also introduce certain products which related and special designed for those events such as Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Love Green Promotion and many more. Our products are designed with de likes and tastes of the youth.


Market

STARCO targeted the market of the youngster and young-at-heart. Street wears is the main choice of clothes for the teenagers today because they will make them look cool! Just before we started STARCO, throughout the surveys of market and predictions we made for STARCO, we conclude that it has potentially growth in the market. It might be a bit difficult on the first introduce of this brand, but we are confident that it will have a rapidly growth in the shortest time. However, our main restriction is the existed brands of street wear like Tom Girls, Tropicana Life and so on. To encounter this problem, we always conduct interviews and surveys to understand what our customers want and satisfy them. As the fashion is changing from time to time, we would also do surveys and observations on the fashion at the time in Tokyo and Taipei because these two cities that always being the leaders of fashion in Asia. Therefore, we can provide the latest design of a time before other brands do.

Marketing

For our marketing strategies, we introduced the member card privileges for all loyal customers to enjoy discount during sales and special events such as customer’s birthday and anniversary of STARCO. We would also have different kinds of promotions at different time such as Love Green Promotion, Eco-Friendly Promotion, and Valentine’s Day Promotion and so on. STARCO have its own website and blog site where our customers can view or even buy our products. Each and every time STARCO is having sales or promotions, we will inform our customers by flyers, blog, website, magazines and email to our member card holders.

Premises / Machinery / Vehicles

Since STARCO is just started, we plan to have our outlet stores and counters in most shopping complex such as Jusco, Tesco, Time Square and Sunway Pyramid in all the 13 states in Malaysia first before we extend to overseas. As mentioned, our customers can buy our products through the website, therefore, despite sewing machines we also need computers which we need for update our products information and received purchase order from our customer as well as sea and air transportation for our shipments.

Objectives

Conclusively, our objectives of setting up this business earn profit which all the businesses do; secondly, we want STARCO to be the top leader and become a well-known brand of the street wear fashion which makes our customers being proud of wearing STARCO. Purposely, we wanted to become a public limited company in order to earn more profit and get STARCO better known worldwide.

Reasons for Falling Sales and the Lack of Trade


Terms of Reference

I was asked by Mr. Ong Chee Meng, Sales Director of Giant Hypermarket to write a report on falling sales and the lack of trade in our branch. This report is due as soon as possible.

Proceeding/Procedure

To find out about the reasons for falling sales and the lack of trade, I conducted an interview with customers as they leave the supermarket. The questions asked include:

  • What do you think of the quality of our products?
  • What do you think the range of our products?
  • What do you think of the helpfulness of our staff?
  • What do you think of facilities (café, toilets)?
  • How do we compare with other hypermarkets?

Findings

Bases on the interview conducted with customers, I found that:

  • The majority agree that we provide high quality products, 112 customers feel that the quality of our products is fine while only 8 customers are dissatisfied with our products and 40 of them have no idea.
  • 83 of the customers say that we have a wide range of products, 268 of them say that the range of our products is just fine, 106 customers feel that we have a small range of products and 43 customers did not comment on the range of products
  • For helpfulness of our staff, 195 customers find that they are very helpful, 239 customers find that our staff are quite helpful but 24 of them feel that our staff are not helpful whereas 42 people have no idea.
  • Only 58 customers interviewed are satisfied with our facilities, the majority find that it is just reached their requirement, 118 of them are not satisfied with the facilities and 44 customers never comment on our facilities.
  • Most people feel that we are very competitive with other hypermarkets, 297 customers find that it is fair if compared with other hypermarkets, 138 of them find that other hypermarkets are better than us, again 24 of them have no idea.
  • Several customers commented about the slow service in all departments especially at the cashiers counters, and a lack of cleanliness in the café and that the toilets were often closed or dirty.

Conclusions

It can be said that our branch is still remains competitive with other hypermarket because of our high quality and wide range of products. However, we are losing customers are probably due to the lack of helpfulness and efficiency of our staff and the cleanliness of the facilities.

Recommendations

I would recommend that:

  • We should maintain the quality and range of our products.
  • We should improve the helpfulness and the effectiveness of all the staff.
  • We should satisfied our customers with our facilities and make sure they are always clean.
  • We should conduct a survey on other competitors on how they run their business.

The business that we are planning to start with is a brand that always being the leader of the street wear fashion. Since the recent years, street dances like hip hop and the extreme sports like skateboard game are becoming more and more popular until it become a must for our teenagers nowadays. We have taken all these, teenagers hobbies and daily activities, as the elements of our design on the products. For the most important point, it is comfy and suitable to wear while doing these activities. Our products are absolutely fashionable which also represent the teens’ perception of life and what the teens looking for. We make all our consumers being proud of standing on the top of street wear fashion because they are wearing our brand!
Our products including top and bottom wear and accompanied you with accessories such as bags, necklace, wallets,etc. They will make you glamorous whether it is day time or during the night and whether you are a male or female. Our street wear collections will make you to be the one you want to be.
